Capsule Review: 2015 Ford F150 XLT SuperCrew - The stupid analogies beer can are already tired. Yes, the body of the 2015 Ford F150 is...
The stupid analogies beer can are already tired. Yes, the body of the 2015 Ford F150 is aluminum, but it is not so important. If they make a big deal about it, you never know. It also fails to make the F150 lightweight Jesus microphones.
Ford was Crowing about weight savings that come from using an aluminum body, but that alone will not keep the F150 on top. While it is very likely that the F150 will crack 40 years as the unique model bestseller, its competitors have sharpened their daggers recent
The F150 remains that the F150 has always been -. A good truck, sold aggressively, with some weak points. The areas most in need of improvement were treated. This means better care significantly within the quality, assembly, and completely re-imagined powertrain lineup.
The base engine is the 3.5-liter V6. Equally firmly commonplace here as it was in Lincoln MKZ. With 282 hp and 253 lb-ft of torque, the 3.5 is completely overshadowed by a pair of choice optional EcoBoost V6. The EcoBoost 2.7-liter is the cash-strapped option, costing you $ 795 for up to 325 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque. Spend $ 1.995 and you get the EcoBoost 3.5-liter. Its 365 hp is just 20 hp less than the 5.0-liter 385 hp V8, but its 420 lb-ft of torque turbo fat will be significantly stronger and more flexible than 387 lb-ft V8. Price Ford V8 right between the turbo sixes, to $ 1.595. Either EcoBoost is one hell of an engine, and if you crack a window, you will hear the turbos spool.
With the window up, you will not hear much at all. It is quiet inside, but the interior of the F150 is still plagued by the same kind of nonsense that has afflicted the Mustang for a decade. Rock-hard door panels, tons of greasy-looking, cheap feeling plastic and vomited lot of buttons on the panel. Relative to MyFordTouch system, however, the HVAC buttons are a usability model. With MFT, there is a touch screen with icons that are too small, so jump and be safer on the road. SYNC3 can not happen soon enough.
Button-aggro side, the new F150 is very comfortable to drive. The quiet is a good start, the seats are supportive, with enough adjustments to dial in some customization, and this thing is solid. Even if it is a pick-up, management is a slow tick off center and numb. The EcoBoost 3.5 is ballsy. Very ballsy. Light the tires as a sports car ballsy. If the inside is disappointing Bad Mustang, the Truck Nutz are good Mustang.
It is an open secret that pickups seem more useful than they often turn out to be. This is especially true with the bed 5 1/2 feet had my F150. It is fine for a weekend warrior, and it keeps the total length down so that you are not trying to turn around the Nimitz in the parking convenience store, but it is a compromise. The SuperCrew is standard with a 6 1/2 foot bed, so you save $ 315 with the shorter bed. It is best to think of as a shipping F150s SuperCrew with a bed instead of the 3rd line, against a super-utility pickup. The bed are LED, the new BoxLink system with adjustable lashing and D-rings on hand locking. If you're going to torture your F150 with the real work, get a stripped-down XL, not the $ 50 000 SuperCrew. The race truck arms leads to some absurdity. There is a staircase built into the tailgate, which is ridiculous and kind of heavy use. There are some cool stuff, too, like the ramps and optional remote tailgate release.
The F150 is a truck that is almost all good. Rams have better interiors and the GM twins are quiet and refined with a little better ergonomics - not to mention the small block V8. T - Nissan Titan and Toyota Tundra - are non-players, but I am eager to get their hands on the new Titan. Even with the huge investment to get aluminum body, the F150 is not a feather, but it strong wind in all categories. Engineering was obviously obsessed over. The driving experience is clean and disciplined, and if it does not lead the class interior quality, there has been put into making energy better. Bottom line: The F150 is solid, it stands show looks and is comfortable to drive. The inside is a disappointment, and the price can jump into "Holy crap!" Territory very quickly. The F150 feels light on its feet and is much more refined than it used to be. He is also the pick-up the most advanced you can buy right now
